If $f(x)$ is a polynomial satisfying $f(x)f\left(\frac{1}{x}\right)=f(x)+f\left(\frac{1}{x}\right)$ and $f(3)=28$, then $f(4)$ is

Solution

We know that $f(x) = 1 + x^n$

Finding $n$ using $f(3) = 28$:

$f(3) = 1 + 3^n = 28$
$3^n = 27$
 $\therefore n = 3$
Thus: $f(x) = 1 + x^3$
Finding $f(4)$:
$f(4) = 1 + 4^3 = 1 + 64$
$$\boxed{f(4) = 65}$$
